Shaping Rural Women’s Future in Agriculture: G100–FAO Dialogue
G100 Burkina Faso Meetings, 7 April 2026
A high-level meeting was convened at the FAO Office in Ouagadougou between representatives of the G100 Agriculture Wing and the FAO Country Office in Burkina Faso. This important engagement marked a significant milestone in strengthening dialogue and exploring strategic collaboration aimed at advancing agricultural development and women’s empowerment across the country.
The session commenced with welcoming remarks from the FAO Country Representative, who expressed sincere appreciation for the visit and acknowledged the importance of building partnerships with global initiatives such as G100. The G100 delegation, led by its Global Chair, introduced its members and conveyed their gratitude for the opportunity to engage in constructive and forward-looking discussions. The exchange established a positive and collaborative tone for the meeting.
During the discussions, G100 presented its vision, mission, and strategic priorities in Burkina Faso, placing a strong emphasis on empowering rural women and strengthening their role within the agricultural value chain. The presentation highlighted G100’s commitment to inclusive growth, capacity-building initiatives, and the development of impactful partnerships. It also underscored the importance of creating sustainable opportunities that enable women to thrive as leaders and contributors within their communities.
In response, the FAO acknowledged the relevance and significance of G100’s initiative and recognized its strong alignment with national and global development priorities. The organization expressed interest in supporting G100’s efforts, while also outlining key recommendations to ensure a strong foundation for collaboration. These included obtaining official legal recognition as a prerequisite for institutional partnership, accelerating administrative procedures to enhance credibility and operational presence, and engaging with national authorities. FAO further encouraged G100 to pursue long-term representation in decision-making bodies, including at the parliamentary level, to effectively advocate for rural women.
The FAO reaffirmed its openness to future collaboration, while emphasizing that such engagement would be contingent upon the formalization of G100’s legal and institutional status. This highlights the importance of strong governance and alignment with national frameworks in building sustainable partnerships.
In conclusion, the meeting was constructive and forward-looking, providing clarity on the strategic priorities and requirements necessary to establish a meaningful and lasting partnership. It also reinforced the importance of institutional structuring and formal recognition in enhancing G100’s credibility, impact, and long-term presence in Burkina Faso.
