Celebrating Excellence: UEL Hosts Global Women’s Leadership Symposium
G100 University Of East London Meetings, UK, 19 September 2025
On Friday, 19th September 2025, the University of East London’s (UEL) Royal Docks School of Business and Law, in partnership with the Noon Centre, proudly staged the “G100 Club Celebrates WISE (When Individuals Show Excellence) Global Symposium”. This landmark event shone a spotlight on women’s achievements across industries, communities, and cultures.
Set against the inspiring backdrop of UEL’s Centre for Sustainability at the Docklands Campus, overlooking the River Thames, the inclusive and uplifting gathering was masterminded by Dr. Doirean Wilson BEM, Director of UEL’s Academy of Policing and Criminal Justice, and G100 UK Country Chair of the Higher Education & Industry Connect Wing.
The Symposium was officially opened by Professor Siraj Sait, Lead Director of UEL’s Noon Centre, who welcomed guests with a powerful reflection on the global impact of women’s leadership. In her keynote, Dr. Wilson urged attendees to celebrate their successes, stressing how stories of achievement ignite ambition and inspire others to reach higher.
The stage then lit up with remarkable voices. Dr. (H.C) Hartini Osman, President of the Women’s Economic Forum (Malaysia) and G100 Global Chair for Philanthropy, Business and Poverty Eradication, shared her vision for empowerment. Susan Fajana-Thomas OBE, Cabinet Member for Community Safety and Regulatory Services, London Borough of Hackney, inspired with her commitment to public service. Her Excellency Jeannie Steele, CEO of Steele Design Studio Ltd, Global Peace Ambassador, and G100 UK Chair of the Youth Engagement Wing, captivated the audience with her journey of resilience and impact.
Equally compelling was Annabella Nassetti, Founder of A Living Concept UK, author, and G100 Global Chair of the Design & Lifestyle Wing, who spoke movingly about overcoming adversity to succeed. Like others, she paid tribute to Dr. Harbeen Arora-Rai, Founder and Former President of G100, whose pioneering vision laid the foundation for this global movement.
The audience, a vibrant mix of UEL student ambassadors, academics, entrepreneurs, thought leaders, families, and friends, were visibly inspired by the personal journeys and wisdom shared throughout the day.
The celebrations culminated in a dual awards ceremony honouring outstanding contributions.
The G100 “Exceptional Women of Excellence Awards” were presented to Professor Rea Prouska (Hult Business School), Susan Fajana-Thomas OBE, and Audrey Bamboe, CEO of MDS Mentoring Program and G100 Advisory Council Member.
Capturing the spirit of the day, UEL student ambassador Nikki reflected:
“I’m truly grateful as these opportunities allow us to meet so many inspiring and intelligent delegates who were kind and generous in sharing their experiences, offering valuable advice, insights, and tips for life. Hearing their journeys highlighted women’s hard work and resilience, and one day, I hope to stand on such a platform myself.” With its blend of inspiration, recognition, and empowerment, the G100 Club WISE Global Symposium at UEL was not just an event — it was a celebration of excellence, resilience, and the power of women’s leadership across the world.
