Bridging the Gap: Global Collaboration for Equity in Women’s Health

G100 UK Meetings, 26 February 2026

The G100 – UK Meeting, hosted by the Diversity, Inclusion & Representation Wing, was convened on 26 February 2026 at Irwin Mitchell Solicitors, London, under the compelling theme: “Equality in Women’s Health: Tackling Disparities Through Global Collaboration.”

This distinguished gathering brought together influential leaders, medical experts, policymakers, and advocates united by a shared purpose — to confront persistent inequalities in women’s health and accelerate meaningful, scalable solutions worldwide.

Alison Eddy, Global Chair of the Diversity, Inclusion & Representation Wing, alongside Geeta Nayar, UK Country Chair, curated an evening that was both thought-provoking and action-oriented. A particularly powerful moment came as Theoclsrke courageously shared her personal experience of birth trauma and her pioneering role in establishing the first All-Party Parliamentary Group on Birth Trauma in the House of Commons. Her story underscored how lived experience can drive legislative reform and national accountability.

Professor Andrew Weeks delivered a sobering reminder of the global maternal health crisis, revealing that one woman dies every seven minutes from birth-associated haemorrhage. Yet there was also progress to acknowledge: maternal mortality has fallen by 40% since 2020, driven in large part by a remarkable 78% reduction in India. This demonstrates that focused interventions and political will can deliver transformative results.

Professor Shehata Hassan addressed female genital mutilation (FGM) as a profound violation of human rights affecting over 230 million women and girls across more than 90 countries. He emphasized that meaningful change demands sustained education, stronger medical training, and a collective effort to challenge deeply embedded cultural norms.

Professor Jane Hirst brought attention to the growing intersection between climate change and women’s health. Rising global temperatures and extreme heat are increasingly linked to stillbirth, pre-eclampsia, and other pregnancy-related complications — reinforcing the urgent need for integrated global health and climate strategies.

The evening concluded with a clear and unified call to action: engage global media, empower individuals to become advocates, and champion low-cost, scalable innovations that can save lives.

More than a meeting, this was a catalyst — reaffirming a global commitment to equity, collaboration, and bold leadership in advancing women’s health for a more just and sustainable future.
