G100 Rome Italy Meetings, along with Annual WEF, 20-23 November 2024


The G100 meetings were held in conjunction with the Women Economic Forum (WEF) Italy, to empower women in business, foster leadership, and promote collaboration among women leaders from various sectors. The event brought together influential leaders from across the world to share experiences, discuss challenges, and explore opportunities.

The panels and meetings celebrated the power of women’s leadership in driving change across economic, social, and cultural landscapes. Over three impactful days, the event brought together over 300 participants and eminent speakers from around the world to share insights and create actionable pathways for progress.

The WEF Italy 2023 was held at Luiss Guido Carli University in Rome. The conference opened with inspiring addresses by distinguished speakers, including H.E. Laura Mattarella, First Lady of Italy, and Yulia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, who emphasised the critical role of women in shaping global policies and economic strategies. The sessions covered a diverse range of topics such as sustainable development, digital transformation, and women’s role in building economic resilience.

The participants engaged in meaningful conversations, focusing on unity, collective action, and sisterhood to bridge gender gaps and pave the way for inclusive growth. Workshops and interactive sessions created a collaborative platform to exchange best practices and inspire women leaders to take bold steps toward transformation. 

Luigi Gubitosi, President of Luiss University, highlighted the institution’s commitment to fostering a culture of leadership and innovation. Paola Severino, President of the Luiss School of Law, lauded the forum for creating a space for actionable dialogue. Piero Colonna, Vice President of Fondazione Roma, expressed pride in supporting such a transformative event. Monica Lucarelli, Councilor for Security Policies, Productive Activities, and Equal Opportunities for the Municipality of Rome, emphasized Rome’s role as a hub for gender equality initiatives. Marilena Citelli Francese, President of WEF Italy, celebrated the forum’s role in advancing women’s contributions to society and the economy. 

Prominent leaders discussed the evolving role of women in shaping economies and societies. Chiara Corazza, G20 Empower Representative to France, chaired a pivotal session on the same featuring panelists like Paola Angeletti (Chief Sustainability Officer, Intesa San Paolo) and Fabienne Arata (Country Manager, LinkedIn France). Discussions revolved around breaking barriers and fostering sustainability. 

The panel on Climate focussed on actionable steps for climate justice, bringing together experts like Monica de Virgiliis (Chairwoman, Snam) and H.E. Euphrasie Kouassi Yao, Former Minister and UNESCO chair holder for Water, Women and Decision-making, who highlighted the critical intersection of gender, policy, and environmental advocacy.

Another session explored advancements in health and wellbeing, with insights from Antonella Santuccione Chada (CEO, Women’s Brain Foundation) and Anna Maria Colao (Endocrinology Expert, Federico II University). A special lecture by Vittorio Sebastiano from Stanford Medicine captivated attendees with groundbreaking research on aging.
Sessions on AI, and Space further explored themes shaping our future. The technological transformation was addressed in a session led by Barbara Caputo, Full Professor at Politecnico di Torino. Key speakers, including Floriana Ferrara (IBM) and Giusella Finocchiaro (Alma Mater Studiorum), emphasised leveraging AI for societal good while addressing cybersecurity challenges. Space for Life Leaders in space exploration, including Simonetta Cheli (Director of Earth Observation Programmes, ESA) and Milena Lerario (CEO, e-GEOS), discussed the potential of space technologies to address global challenges.

The event “Preparing for the Future: How Education Can Support an Inclusive and Sustainable Democracy” featured a diverse panel of experts. Ersilia Vaudo, an astrophysicist at the European Space Agency, Emma McCoy from the London School of Economics, and Livia De Giovanni from Luiss University discussed the role of education in fostering inclusivity and sustainability. Other notable participants included Staffan De Mistura,( UN, Under-Secretary-General), Chiara Sbarigia(CinecittĂ ), Patrizia Torchia(La7), and Chiara Moenter (Co-Founder, SDG 18). The discussion centered on how education can help build a more democratic and sustainable future.

Strategies for resilient food systems were examined in a session chaired by Sharon Cittone, with contributions from innovators like Simona Caselli (President, Granlatte Coop) and Gladys Morales (IFAD).

The forum featured unique cultural experiences, including a private visit to the Vatican Museums and a reception honouring women athletes, emphasising the strength and triumph of women in sports.

The final day concluded with an exclusive visit to the Knights of Malta headquarters, leaving attendees inspired and united in their mission to advance gender equity and innovation. 

The event united voices from diverse backgrounds, creating a roadmap for a fairer, more sustainable, and inclusive world where women lead as agents of change.

A meeting with Hon’ble Ambassador of Mexico in Italy was also organised by the Mexican delegation led by Patricia Gonzalez.
