Peter Lamers

Peter Lamers, President of the Executive Board, Scholengroep Spinoza, Netherlands. Peter was born and raised in the city of Rotterdam. He studied political science at the Erasmus University.

He is a highly experienced politician and CEO in education and government in which he has worked for over 30 years. For eight years he was the spokesman for the Minister of Finance of the Netherlands. Peter is very knowledgeable in strategic and corporate communication and he is a great networker. He was the head of the communication department of a special program of the ministry of Youth & Welfare called: Operation Young.

He started his political career as member of the council of Feyenoord-Rotterdam, then he was councilor of the province of South Holland. In 2012 the municipality of the city of Rotterdam nominated Peter to be Alderman for Youth & Education. In this position he made a significant impact. He successfully improved the policy on care and support for the youth and qualified education in Rotterdam.
Peters mission is to provide good care and education for all young people, regardless of their origin. Previously Peter was CEO of the RVKO, which is one of the largest boards of primary education in the Netherlands. Currently Peter is chairman of the executive board of the secondary schoolboard Spinoza in The Hague region.
Peter has many social functions to contribute to the needs in Dutch society. He is a member of the Supervisory Board of the KSU Education in Utrecht. He represents the board in the audit committee and the remuneration committee. Peter is also a member of the Supervisory Board of the SIKO Foundation for interdenominational education.

Care for the elderly and people with special needs is important for him. That is why he was a member of the supervisory board of the Strass foundation for many years. This foundation supports the participation of mentally challenged youngsters. He is Member of thee Supervisory Board of Laurens Care in Rotterdam. And as a board member of the Wealth Fund Laurens, he decides on financial contributions for projects supporting elderly and youngsters in the Rotterdam region.
