Advancing Women’s Participation, Representation & Rights: A Multilateral Policy Dialogue.

G100 Multilateral Dialogue Webinar on Women’s Participation, 17 November 2025

The Multilateral Dialogue on Women’s Participation, Representation & Rights brought together EU policymakers, civil society leaders, regional experts, and stakeholders from international organizations to examine the growing regression in gender equality and to strengthen collective action. The discussion highlighted rising global challenges, reviewed the EU’s policy responses, and emphasized strategies to promote women’s participation across governance, economic development, and peace and security spheres.

A shared concern emerged regarding renewed sexist narratives, persistent gender stereotypes, and increasing political backlash worldwide. In response, the European Commission reaffirmed its commitment to advancing women’s rights and introduced the Roadmap for Women’s Rights—a comprehensive, long-term policy framework endorsed by EU Member States and institutions. The roadmap outlines eight core principles addressing violence prevention, women’s health, education, political participation, economic empowerment, labor market inequities, digital inclusion, and the mainstreaming of gender considerations across all EU policies.

Gender equality was strongly framed as both a moral imperative and an economic necessity. Estimates indicate that closing gender gaps could add up to €3 trillion to Europe’s economy by 2050, underscoring the economic cost of inaction. Participants emphasized that empowering women strengthens democratic resilience, institutional trust, peace, and societal cohesion.
