Guillermo Reina

Guillermo Reina is the Executive Director of CTAUN (The Committee on Teaching About the United Nations) since 2017. 

Guillermo’s contributions to education have been widely recognized, including the prestigious Excellent Teaching Education Award from the United Nations, New York City Headquarters, in 2028. His dedication to international education and global engagement continues to shape his work in and out of the classroom. A Spanish Language Teacher at Somerset County Vocational and Technical High School since 2015, he was honored as Teacher of the Year for the 2022/2023 academic year. 

An accomplished educator, executive coach, and organizational leader, Guillermo has a strong background in industrial engineering and business administration. Holding dual citizenship from Colombia and the United States, he has built a distinguished career in education, coaching, and international engagement. He earned an associate degree in Industrial Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering in Colombia before completing a Bachelor of Arts in Business and an MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University in the United States.

He holds multiple professional certifications, including a Career and Technical Education (CTE) Teacher of Engineering Technology, Spanish Language, English as a Second Language, and Bilingual Bicultural Education, all granted by the Department of Education of New Jersey. He also teaches ESL at Raritan Valley Community College and Union County College, helping students develop language skills for academic and professional success. Additionally, he is a certified Executive and Organizational Coach from New York University and an ISO 9000 Quality Manager, certified by ICONTEC Colombia and FUNIBER Spain.

Beyond his professional commitments, Guillermo enjoys landscape and nature photography and traveling to diverse destinations, including Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Bermuda, Greece, Italy, France, Portugal, and Iceland. A firm believer in the power of kindness and positive influence, he draws inspiration from the words of Maya Angelou and Leo Buscaglia. A proud member of a large Hispanic family, he resides in Mendham, New Jersey, with his wife and beloved pets—Mike, a dog; Murray, a cat; and Bogart, a Senegal parrot.
