Zero Leadership: a new normal for building networks with high trust and low stress.
G100 European Union Parliament Meetings, Strasbourg, France, 22-23 April 2024.
The aim of the meeting was to make G100 Network be known, exchange thoughts and ideas, and build solid relationships with the EU Parliament, under the support and guidance from Founder and President G100 Dr. Harbeen Arora Rai and Vinay Rai G100 Founder Denim Club, with the Convenor Mar. Introini (Global Chair, Global Networking), along with Patience Modevi (Global Networking UK Chair) and the non-financial sponsorship from PAS España, by the leader Antonio Chacon (Global Advisor at the wing). It was hosted by MP Juan Ignacio Zoido, a Spanish political leader who warmly welcomed us in the Parliament.
The topic was Global Networking, emphasising women’s mental health addressing one of the pressing issues and main goals from the current EU agenda, seeking to empower women on their personal resilience, by the different areas of expertise that G100 holds.
The wing’s core purpose is building connections, and “formal” events don’t always facilitate the same. The first day was dedicated to this goal, creating an environment conducive to a global networking in a different way, becoming more the new norm for awakening leadership naturally, without the stress.
The two-day meeting prioritised fostering connections in a relaxed setting. We found that these informal gatherings are more valuable than traditional institutional meetings. Such restful settings enabled the emergence of one’s inner creativity and lowered the barriers of interpersonal interactions, enriching exchange and fostering trust.
This further helped us elaborate the idea of what we call “Zero Leadership”: which is not an absence of presence but rather a heartfelt presence and connection, changing the nature of action and connection, making it more full of one’s Self (and not full of oneself ! ): thus being more energising instead of exhausting.
To further cultivate the social aspect, a dinner was held at a charming restaurant in the Old Town. The venue’s inviting decor and diverse menu perfectly complemented the professional event with a social and soulful touch. The following morning, the group convened at the EU Parliament for a focused session from 9:00 to 11:00 am, followed by a delightful lunch within the building.
The following wings were presented in the event: Global Networking Sustainable Banking and Finance Pay parity & Corporate Transformation SDGs Business Accelerator HR & Talent Development Humanity, Technology & Innovation Work Life Harmony Alliances & Alumni Space, Technology & Aviation Financial empowerment & Inclusive policies.
The outcomes were aligned with the goals and philosophy from our network:
1. Contribute to creating more cohesion and more networking among members in such kind of “un-conference” settings;
2. Strengthening the Network’s links with the EU Parliament for a seat and say at the table;
3. Creating spaces for listening across wings;
4. Developing the spirit of friendly connections, and exchange by informal pre-meetings, fostering a “good vibes” environment and having fun !
