UAE united in 1970; for 53 years it’s been home to people from various countries and cultures. With over 200 nationalities living and working in the UAE, the country is a powerhouse of talent and a shining beacon of creativity and possibilities for people from all backgrounds.
UAE is unique in having 88% of its population comprising expats and foreigners. A favourable tax regime and inclusive environment for all strata of society while being anchored in the native Emirati culture provides the perfect blend and balance of tradition and modernity moving forward in synergy and solidarity with the rest of the world, embracing and advancing opportunities for a better future for all.
The vision of UAE since its inception is testimony to the power of national vision and international integration with accelerated actions, enablement of all, and commitment to deliver with an ethos of continuous improvement and development, and making one feel at home with perspectives and policies for empowerment of one and all.
G100 visited UAE last time during the year of the grand Dubai Expo in 2022. A year later in 2023 UAE is hosting the COP 28. Ever on its feet and mind open to the future, UAE has the energy and the will to stay ahead of the curve and remain futuristic in its vision. It does so by taking care of its people from all backgrounds, by embracing change, by stepping up to new challenges and responsibilities, and by setting new benchmarks and goals driving greater innovation for economies and societies that work for all.
Amongst the world’s wealthiest countries, with around 10% of native population, a large pool of migrant and multicultural workforce that feels welcomed and “at home,” UAE has created a global model of staying open, being rooted, and welcoming all with an intentional attitude of acceptance and administration that creates positive economic and social outcomes for all.
This time we had the opportunity to visit Abu Dhabi, the largest and wealthiest emirate in the UAE. We were inspired by the elevated ecosystem of architectural elegance, design and development of Abu Dhabi City, which is also the federal capital of UAE.
Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030 has launched among its new set of economic priorities, further actions to “build an open, efficient, effective and globally integrated business environment.” One can see the relentless energy of the UAE to bridge the gaps and tap into its potential through intention, internationalisation, integration, infrastructure, innovation and influence.
We travelled between Abu Dhabi and Dubai on two occasions, once for the meet and greet with the G100 UAE country clubs comprising country chairs across wings and interested members, and then for the G100 Global Chairs luncheon on the concluding day. With five Global Chairs residing in the UAE, the country is a strong pillar of support and inspiration to the G100 journey.
