Larry Rubin is the President of The American Society of Mexico. In partnership with the U.S. Ambassador to Mexico, Ron Johnson, who serves as the Honorary President of the Society, Mr. Rubin represents the interests of the two million members of the American community residing in Mexico, as well as U.S. companies and NGOs operating in the country.
With over two decades of leadership experience in prominent U.S. organizations, Mr. Rubin has held several influential positions. He served as CEO of The American Chamber of Commerce of Mexico and as Vice President of the Association of American Chambers of Commerce of Latin America. During his tenure as General Director for American Airlines in Mexico, he was elected First Vice President of Mexico’s National Air Transport Chamber.
Mr. Rubin has long been active in public and private sector collaboration. Since 2004, he has represented the Republican Party in Mexico and served as a Trump surrogate in the country. He has played a key leadership role at the Confederation of Industrial Chambers (CONCAMIN), Mexico’s equivalent to the U.S. National Association of Manufacturers. He currently leads the Mexican Association of Pharmaceutical Research Industries (AMIIF), further demonstrating his commitment to advancing industry standards and innovation.
Deeply committed to community service, Mr. Rubin was the founding and initial President of the first English-speaking Rotary Club in Mexico City. He serves on the board of United Way and is a former board member of Habitat for Humanity. Additionally, he contributes his expertise to various corporate boards, furthering his impact across multiple sectors.
In recognition of his extensive experience and contributions, Mr. Rubin was a candidate for the position of U.S. Ambassador to Mexico in 2017.
Mr. Rubin holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Anahuac University, where he also later joined the faculty. He earned an Executive MBA from the Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University in Houston, Texas, graduating with honors. He was the recipient of the prestigious Wright Award, selected by his peers for demonstrating exemplary leadership, service, and significant contributions to the university community.
