She is the Afghanistan’s highest-ranking female officials, Hosna Jalil made history as the first woman to be appointed as Deputy Minister of Policy and Strategy at the Ministry of Interior Affairs in Afghanistan. Nonetheless, it was challenging to be a woman leader in public office at such a high level. The fiery young leader then joined as Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Women Affairs. Now as the deputy minister of policy and plan in the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, she is more resolute than ever to change and challenge old patriarchal norms. She is tirelessly and fearlessly working for strengthening women’s safety and dignity in public office and public spaces, and integrating women from all walks of life toward greater peace and security, and fostering equitable access to education, health, and opportunities.
Prior to this, Hosna Jalil has executive management as well as policy development track record with 6 years of professional experience in a wide range of industries, from mining and petroleum to importation and production of pharmaceutical products. Over the course of her career, she served as senior representative, brand ambassador, analyst, a consultant for small startups, chief executive officer, member of the management board and member of BoD for different local and international organizations, from startups to well established private, government and non-for-profit organizations. Before joining Ministry of Interior, she has served at the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum in Afghanistan as head of policy and research Directorate. She has received her master’s degree in business administration, majored in management from the American University of Afghanistan (AUAF).
