H.E. Dr. May Chidiac

H.E. Dr. May Chidiac is a former Minister of State for Administrative Reform, a professor at Notre Dame University (NDU), and the President and Founder of the May Chidiac Foundation (MCF) and the MCF Media Institute (MCF-MI). A distinguished journalist and staunch advocate for democracy, Dr. Chidiac survived a car bomb attack in 2005, which resulted in the loss of her left leg and arm. Undeterred by this tragic event, she returned to television, hosting With Audacity from 2006 to 2009.  

Dr. Chidiac has been recognized with numerous prestigious honors, including the Chevalier de L’Ordre de la Légion d’Honneur, awarded by former French President Jacques Chirac in 2007, and the Dame de L’Ordre de Saint Grégoire-Le-Grand, conferred by Pope Francis in 2017. She has also received several international, regional, and local awards in recognition of her contributions to journalism, democracy, and human rights.  

Her international accolades include the UNESCO Guillermo Cano World Press Freedom Prize, the 2017 Minerva Anna Maria Mammoliti Prize for Human and Civil Rights, the IPI Award for Press Bravery and Heroism, the Prix de la Francophonie pour la Liberté d’Expression, and the IWMF Award for Courage in Journalism.
