Candela Gonzalez is the Chair of the World Board of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), where she leads global strategy and advocacy efforts for 11 million girls and young women across 153 countries. A seasoned international executive from Argentina, she currently works at UNICEF Headquarters in New York, bringing a strong track record in strategic planning, governance, and programme leadership across the youth and non-profit sectors.

As the youngest-ever Chair of the WAGGGS World Board, Candela has demonstrated values-driven leadership, guiding transformative initiatives and championing youth empowerment on a global scale. With over a decade of experience engaging stakeholders and supporting youth-focused organisations worldwide, she excels in fostering sustainable growth and inclusive change.

Fluent in Spanish, English, and Italian, Candela thrives in complex, mission-driven environments. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and is completing her Master’s thesis in International Cooperation, combining academic insight with practical leadership expertise.

Skilled in business development, financial oversight, and capacity building, Candela has led multicultural and remote teams with integrity, safety, and inclusion at the core of her approach.
